MONUMENTS (UK) ANF KALANDRA (NO) OPEN FOR LEPROUS „APHELION European Tour 2023”

January 19, 2023
MONUMENTS (UK) is the second guest band opening for Leprous together with Kalandra, during the second edition of ARTmania Evenings. The event is organized under ARTmania Festival’s brand, on 4th MArch, at Arenele Romane in Bucharest.
Leprous „APHELION European Tour 2023”
a promo tour of the band’s seventh album.

Monuments and Kalandra complete the line-up filling the air with progressive metalcore/djent and alternative pop, rock cores and Nordic folk influences.

Leprous (NO) are coming back to Bucharest as part of their European tour meant to promote ”Aphelion”, their seventh album, mixed by Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves,

etc.) and and then mastered by Robin Schmidt (The 1975, Placebo, The Gaslight Anthem,

etc.).

The perfect title for this intimate and moving piece of work, Aphelion represents the point in the path of an object’s orbit when it is furthest away from the sun. It’s a sublime metaphor for the grand challenges that are thrown at us in life, and the strength and self-belief it often requires to struggle on.

Described as song-by-song album by the band members, “Aphelion” was recorded in different moments and in different studios, an artistic choice which presented a unique challenge to find a unifying sound. In a world where progressive rock gives the audience so many options to choose from, an awesome amount of courage and personality are needed to be able to approach personal themes and show themselves as vulnerable to the public.

MONUMENTS (UK)

Born in 2007, British progressive metal band Monuments has gone through a series of changes in the last decade, perfecting its style and taking its music to new soaring heights. The involvement of new vocalist, Andy Cizek, showcases new facets for their compositions.

Kalandra (NO)

With more than a decade of music under their belt, Kalandra is a unique force, with Nordic folk influences that give way to ethereal melodies with crude and strange musical landscapes. Formed in the beginning of the 2010s, they’ve spent a decade crafting their own unique sound, building their own studio, whilst also touring and playing support for similar acts such as Gåte, Seigmen, Wardruna and Eivør.

Kalandra was then signed to ByNorse Music and finally released its first album “The Line” (2020), an album with a strong mix of alternative pop and rock. Series fans will recognize their unique sound in the HBO series “Beforeigners” and the full soundtrack to the game series “Kingdom Two Crowns” which resulted in their second release “Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse Lands Soundtrack (Extended)” in 2022.

This concert series is held under ARTmania Evenings and brings international remarkable rock and metal bands to the Romanian audience.

ARTmania Evenings

Started in 2021 as an alternative to the festival, which couldn’t take place, ARTmania Evenings graduated into an initiative meant to keep the rock-music community engaged outside of summer through a series of concerts throughout the year.

The first edition took place in Quantic Pub, during the 23rd – 25th of July 2021 weekend, when ARTmania Evenings provided an outlet for fans to enjoy a festival-like atmosphere, to attend alternative activities and to be energized by concerts offered by some of the most known Romanian bands.
