ARTmania Festival, in collaboration with Midgardsblot Metal Festival and Inferno Metal Festival & Music Conference, under the umbrella of the “Musical Bridges Through Cultural Entrepreneurship” project initiated by ARTmania Events, is pleased to announce the presence of Norwegian partners, Midgardsblot Festival, at the event.

As part of this partnership, ARTmania Festival will host the presence of Midgardsblot Metal Festival, a renowned event from Norway since 2015. Midgardsblot Metal Festival stands out by combining the tradition and heritage of the Vikings with the international heavy metal music scene. Situated at the Midgard Viking Center, near the village of Borre, the festival offers an immersive experience for history and rock music enthusiasts.

Within this exceptional partnership, Midgardsblot Metal Festival will bring two remarkable bands, Folket Bortafor Nordavinden and Nebala Jonas (solo project), who will perform on the Freyja’s Weeping stage at ARTmania Festival.

Folket Bortafor Nordavinden is a Norwegian folk music band with a distinct sound and a unique approach to the genre. The band’s name translates to “The People Beyond the North Wind” and refers to the strong and mysterious northern wind. They blend folk influences with modern and traditional elements. Their musical style is based on the authentic sounds of traditional Norwegian instruments such as flute, violin, and acoustic guitar, complemented by harmonious vocals and captivating melodies. Folket Bortafor Nordavinden stands out for their profound lyrics and emotional storytelling, which bring Norse mythology and traditions to the forefront. Through their music, the band conveys messages about nature, freedom, love, and connection to cultural roots. By participating in ARTmania Festival, Folket Bortafor Nordavinden brings a special Norwegian touch and Viking spirit to Romania, providing the Romanian audience with an opportunity to connect with Norwegian music and culture in an authentic and exciting way.

Jonas Lorentzen is a Danish musician and composer known for his work as a vocalist in the Neo Nordic Folk band Heilung and for his involvement in the epic Viking film The Northman, directed by the young and successful Hollywood director, Robert Eggers. After spending two years with Heilung and more recently collaborating on the globally acclaimed film The Northman, Jonas Lorentzen has decided to focus on his own musical expression. The result is Nebala, a project based on reimagining Nordic music and music with a strong spiritual influence.

In addition to their captivating performances, Midgardsblot Metal Festival will present a Blot Ritual, a traditional Viking ritual that represents a moment of connection, healing, and spiritual exploration.

Music enthusiasts, history lovers, and those curious about Viking traditions are welcomed with open arms at ARTmania Festival, where a musical and cultural bridge will be created between Romania and Norway.

This collaboration between ARTmania Festival and Midgardsblot Metal Festival brings to the forefront a unique combination of metal music and Viking traditions, offering the Romanian audience an unforgettable musical and cultural experience.

ARTmania Festival, the first Romanian festival that developed the idea of combining art and entertainment in Romania, is a platform dedicated to promoting all forms of artistic expression inspired by rock culture.

Since 2006, ARTmania has established itself as the main regional promoter of contemporary music projects. Music is the core component, but it is only a part of the experience that ARTmania Festival wanted to offer to art lovers from Romania and abroad. From the very beginning, ARTmania was conceived as a cultural platform to offer the public various events and ways to experience different forms of artistic expression, such as concerts, exhibitions, book launches and film screenings.

As the longest-running rock festival in Romania and one of the brands with the longest tradition on the regional cultural scene, ARTmania has shaped its own identity through a bold concept and a special environment: the Great Square of one of the most beautiful medieval fortresses in Eastern Europe.

ARTmania is constantly exploring new directions, building on the experience of previous editions where many important artists have performed. Among them are Steven Wilson, Peter Hammill, Serj Tankian, Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, Opeth, Die Toten Hosen, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Apocalyptica, HIM, The Gathering, The Sisters of Mercy, Anathema, Apocalyptica, Lacuna Coil, Helloween, Lacrimosa, Poets of the Fall and Deine Lakaien.
